2024 Membership Show
Opening Reception: THURSDAY, MARCH 14, 2024, 5-7 PM
1. The City Arts, aka the Ponca City Art Association’s annual Membership Show Opening Reception is scheduled for Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 5-7 pm in the John McNeese Gallery on the first floor of the City Central Building located at 400 E. Central Avenue in downtown Ponca City. Registration is Monday and Tuesday, March 11 & 12 from 12-4pm or by appointment by calling 580-765-9746. Pick up dates for artwork are Monday and Tuesday, April 15 & 16 from 12-4pm, or by appointment by calling 580-765-9746.
2. If artwork is offered for sale, the City Arts will retain a 30% commission.
3. The Opening Reception will be Thursday, March 14, 2024, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with critique from the judge at 5:30 PM. Event is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
4. Only paid members of the City Arts/PCAA may enter. Entrant must be 18 years of age or have prior approval of Executive Director. Membership renewals are available at www.pcarts.org for renewing members and those not currently members. Individual memberships are $45.00, and higher levels of giving are available. Memberships collected during the Membership Show will be valid for 365 days after the date of purchase. The City Arts, DBA Ponca City Art Association is a 501c3 Non-Profit, and those becoming members will receive a tax receipt to submit to the IRS.
5. Maximum number of entries per member is three (3). Entries may all be in one medium or in different media. The image size of one painting is limited to 24”x36”. Acceptance of an oversized piece will be at the discretion of the Executive Director. There is no entry fee for the membership show.
6. If there are fewer than four individual artists entered in a category, then it will be at the discretion of the judge if ribbons are to be awarded.
7. There are two entry levels: Professional and Amateur
Professional: Artists who have sold or exhibited art for more than 3 years or who teach HS/College level art classes. Only original work will be accepted.
Amateur: Less than three years’ experience selling or exhibiting art. Only original work will be accepted.
Media category guidelines:
8. Two- or three-dimensional artwork in oil/acrylic, watercolor, graphics (includes drawing, pencil, pen and ink, pastel), photography, mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, fiber, and fine craft.
9. In all categories, entries must be of works completed in the last two years and not previously exhibited in an annual PCAA competition. If member desires to enter a piece of art done in years past, it shall be left to the discretion of the curating committee whether the work shall be accepted.
10. Paintings and graphics must be suitably matted and framed, ready for hanging. No “saw tooth” hangers accepted.
11. An identifying label must be placed on the back of each entry showing: name of artist, entry level, title of work, medium, size and price. If work is not for sale, please be sure this is noted on the label clearly by indicating “NFS”.
12. Award levels will be: One Overall Best of Show. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place in Professional. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, place in Amateur. Honorable Mention ribbons are given at the discretion of the Juror. Awards are Ribbons only, not monetary awards.
13. Artist will be required to leave the artwork on display throughout the show unless previous arrangements for early removal have been made. Removal of art before release time could disqualify artist for future shows.
